According to United States census data, 16.8% of residents in Ravalli County from 2009-2013 lived below the federal poverty line. Children living in these homes are unlikely to have technology or books. These children need literacy based library programs such as story-times to prepare them for entering school and summer-reading to keep them learning when school is out. These programs and a current collection of reading materials are fundamental to the development of families in need.
Ballots will be mailed this week asking voters if they support a 3-mill increase for library funding. This increase will fund a rich collection of library resources and increase the capacity of professional staff to provide transformative programs. This will provide about 1/3 of the library’s annual budget and we need your help to secure the next generation of library services.
Vote YES for Darby Community Public Library! Ballots must be in by September 15.
